Indian navy:

The Indian Navy operates above, on and below the surface of the sea to create a safe and secure maritime environment. The Indian Navy is under the command of the President of India. It is responsible for protecting the country from enemies on its maritime borders. The Indian Navy has high number of personnel ships and submarines. It is considered the sixth strongest navy in the world. To promote the work of the Indian Navy, this day is celebrated every year in India.

Highlights of Indian Navy and Indian Navy Day:

·       Every year December 4th, is celebrated Indian Navy day. This Day is invoking the memory of the launch of operation Indo-Pak war in 1971and the day is celebrated as a mark of reverence to those who were martyred in the war.

·          The Navy Day used to be celebrated on October 21, 1944, later it was celebrated on December 15 every year due to the World War. After the Indo-Pakistani war, it was started to be celebrated on December 4 every year.

·          The Indian Navy selects a theme that fits with its strategic objectives. Examples of these themes include defence readiness, technological developments, and maritime security. "Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation" is the theme for Indian Navy Day in 2024.
